Small crack in windshield

Epilogue: Safelite came out a few days after the rock hit the windshield and the crack doubled in size and they said it was too large for a repair. They also said that the line that they can repair something smaller than a dollar bill is not true. I had to take it in to their shop for repairs so that they could recalibrate the safety systems. Took two hours and I was on my way. I've added glass coverage to my auto insurance.

Interesting last time i was on hold with them which was probably 6 or 8 months ago it was actually on their hold recording trying to sell 80.00 repairs....

Of course a time or two before that they tried to put a low roof windshield in a medium roof transit and swore at least 5 times it was correct and they had checked it with Ford... including when they took it out of their truck and i said, "that's not the right windshield" i should have stopped them but i was in it for the entertainment value.

What year is your RAV4? I was searching for information on the camera recalibration.
I have to have the windshield replaced in my 2021 Toyota RAV4. I filled out a quote request on Safelite's website to get an idea on price. It was, I think, like $350 (less than my $500 deductible). BUT, it said you may need safety system recalibration, which may cost more. They did not say how much more though. Google AI says that service at Safelite is usually $400 more. So, then it would make sense for me to set up an insurance claim.
Curious what the final costs were. (Along with anyone else that cares to chime in too, of course).

My 2020 RAV4 had the crack and needed the new windshield. Total cost was $850. I don't remember the details of windshield vs calibration costs.

Toyota products are usually pretty tolerant of aftermarket glass and they tend to calibrate OK.

The calibration tech said everything went well. It's been about a year without any issues.
Sorry, a couple more questions.
You have not said otherwise, so I guess the quality of the glass is good? Not too wavey?
Did they pull their stunt where they say you have to buy their over-priced wiper blades or else your glass will not be warrantied?

I don't notice any waviness. Looks the same as the original glass to me. Wife has not complained.

They pressured the wipers, but did not mention no warranty. I did buy the wipers since the old ones getting old. Unfortunately, one of their wipers had a defect, a cut in the rubber that caused a streak on the windshield. Wife did complain about that. We could have gotten them replaced for free but that would have created a logistical issue that the wife decided wasn't worth juggling cars around. The price of wipers in general has gone up a lot and their over-priced wipers are not as over-priced as they used to be.

Safelite replaced mine yesterday. I set up my insurance claim on Safeco's website and then it transferred me to Safelite's website to schedule the appointment. My bride took it to their shop yesterday.
Glass: $389.85
Urethane kit: $40
Labor: $130.20
Molding: $41
Tariff relief: $5.40
Recalibration: $257
I looked at it but have not driven it. Glass looks fine to me.
When I scheduled the appointment, it gave me three options: One was glass only (which I picked), one included new wipers for $70 extra, and the other was more money yet, but I didn't pay an attention to what that included.
I just spent $50 at WM a couple of weeks ago on three new wipers. (I hate buying wipers).

I just went through something similar on our 2017 CR-V. Rock from someones tire hit corner of windshield and a crack was slowly getting longer. It was about 7" long when we brought it to Safelite, and they said it was unrepairable and quoted $1100 including camera recalibration.

So, nothing to lose -- I bought a windshield drill bit and one of the repair kits with suction cups and syringe. Drilled the end of the crack and injected the resin at the hole. It flowed about a third of the way and I cured it in the sun. Next day I drilled another hole in the middle of the remaining crack and repeated the process except I put packing tape over the crack and I applied vacuum for much longer before pressurizing the syringe. It flowed much better this time and the resin is more or less throughout the crack. Crack is visible, and who knows how long the repair will last; but, for now I have saved the windshield.
