Looking to round out my slotted screwdriver set. Right now I have Craftsman. I would be using them around the house for general maintenance and construction and for working on my cars. I am willing to buy a set but I don't need Phillips because I just purchased a set of Vessel JIS/Phillips. Looking for recommendations on sizes needed as well as brand. If a combined set was a killer deal then I might consider buying the set and putting the Phillips screwdrivers on eBay. Thanks for you help.

I have Craftsman, Husky (hard handle type), and Wiha. For whatever reason I like the Husky the best, the other two have their pros and cons.

Husky is USA made and sold at HD.

A Screw-Driver that I have and like ALOT is:
Husky 5/16"
Pt. No. 673-962

It has a 'stubby' blade with FULL SIZE Handle

Made in USA
Bought at Home Depot

I also bought a Craftsman Set
and
Miniature Set for tiny screws

Anyone else hate slotted screws..

Square drive is so much better.. or even Philips.

So what makes the PB Swiss so great? They seem to be very expensive from my perspective? Better steel? Better construction? Better feel?

After being in the trades for 40+ years, the Klein 10 in 1 screwdriver is the best I have ever used by far. The flat blades are reversed ground, so they actually dig in, instead of slip out. I have lost the phillips bits, because they fit so tight they were stuck in the last screw I used them on. Plus you get the 2 most common torx bits, square drives, and can use it on 5/16, and 1/4 in head sheet metal screws. It has the perfect rubber grip, and is my go to driver, and is for many people I know! I use it on 95% of what I work on. And they are like under $15. I have like 5 of them.

Tool Lady runs a special or two per year, if you are not in a hurry and want a PB Swiss tool. They are pretty much lifetime tools. You need a very good magnifying glass to find a flaw there.

On the German front Felo still keeps quality high. Wiha makes numbers now, and quality is slipping.

Proto has a new screwdrivers pro line, I tried some and I like them. But some were flawed a litle - kinda like Wiha, but more affordable.

I also like some inexpensive Gearwrench driver handle with swappable bit inserts

I think I would be majorly bummed if I damaged a PB Swiss. If I dinged a Craftsman I not sure I would even go through the warranty hassle. Is the performance of the PB Swiss really worth the price?

PB Swiss does alotta research before making a screwdriver. They make sure the tip is sized correctly so there's no slop in the screw slot; and they put a well shaped handle on there that's comfortable and sticky; allowing you to spin the screws fast. PB Swiss calls it their "Swiss Grip."

Yes they are worth the price. Use them for what they were made for and they will last a lifetime, if you want paint can openers, chisels and hole aligners buy HF or Craftsman for that.
I have PB, Felo and a set of old Carl Walter red handle drivers and non has damaged tips. The original SK and New Britain drivers were great but like too many good tool manufacturers are long gone.

Not much - would be willing to get a small set for that too

So far, I am pleased with my Craftsman "Professional" set. US made too.

I am no professional, but they have held up quite well over the last 5 years. (DIY car repairs, homeowner repairs, junkyarding etc.)

I was at the local hardware store (Ace) last weekend and noticed they had a whole tote of them for $2.50 each. Went ahead and bought a T27.

No problem at all with the multicraft driver handles. I have no idea about the Swiss Grip ones.
