Hey guys, Wanted to find some sort of adapter with a base plate for a spin on fuel filter to replace my inline fuel filter on my 2003 silverado 4.3 Does Anyone make something like this?
You should be able to find those base plates in places that sell parts for marine engines. You would need to work out the gas lines. But these days most gas is very clean. I pulled the tank on my 93 Suburban twice to replace the pump, and each time it was spotless. The only thing dirty were my hands.
If you do this make sure the spin-on filter system can handle the pressure from the pump. Injector pressure is much higher than carb system that most spin-on filters were designed for.
fram has a very old racing fuel canister and filter. its very good. any speed shop will have them. and the filters. Fram HPG-1 Hi Performance Gas Filter 10 microns 3/8 fittings 100 PSI $57.xx w/ bracket. sorry its not spin on. but looks easy to use.
Burst pressure 240 psi. I have been using this with great success on my EFI'd '67 Beetle. I run 50psi fuel pressure. The drain is very handy, I'm always amazed at the amount of water that comes out when I drain it.
i found a long list of wix bases, on the internet. http://www.wixfilters.com/Speciality/Conversion.aspx my bet is none will bolt to a newer GM twk. might try the GM parts counter they might have special parts like that. GM deisel truck filter might bolt in. modding stock lines would fine for my twk. be sure to use high pressure hoses.

I had a similar experience yet I still had 3 plugged up fuel filters. Bottom of the tank was spotless.
