my 02 chev silverado,1500 pu just stopped dead yesterday. driving about 65 mph it was like somebody thru a light switch off......any ideas? plenty of battery power and of course I had a fuel level at 3/4 tank.?????Help...120,000miles no problems ever!

There were some issues with a +12v wire that goes from the harness on firewall almost in the middle of the engine to the coil (AFAICR) breaking.

Check the wires carefully,if you find it broken extend the wire with an approx 3" piece soldered in and covered with heat shrink tubing.
We have had these come in with the wire tight as a bow string, most didn't last this long if that's the trouble.

ok,not to sound like a smartash but why post here asking for help (which we mostly can only speculate for we are not physically in front of your truck anyways) when all you should do is to get a mechanic to check things out first (then report your findings here?)

at the mechanics 7am here........got a couple of good respones...thanks

I'd say fuel pump is likely, similar thing happened to our 03 expedition. Ran fine. shut it off, few minutes later went to start it back up and it just sputtered coughed and died.

Zero info to go on...
But try squirting starting fluid in the intake, and start her up.
If she pops or starts for a few seconds, you know it is fuel, not ignition.

It was a fuel pump! We will be back on road for home this afternoon. Sure is expensive though...I am still uncaffenated and appreciate all the posts!

Fuel pump died on my 02 sierra at 128k. Stalled on the freeway, was able to start hard but would stall a second later. Get yourself a new fuel filter, fuel pump relay and replace them. If it still does not start, check for codes, if no codes most likely fuel pump. Get a GM pump (delco, delphi.) they come with a updated power connector and are better than the aftermarket trash. Non-GM fuel pumps do not work in GM cars I found out the hard way. You can also test by hitting the tank with a rubber mallet near the fuel pump, have an assistant try to start while you do this, Make sure they know not to run you over. Also, when you turn the key do you hear the pump prime after you replace the relay?

Easy repair, all you need are a torque wrench, socket set, and a ratchet. You can do it by yourself without help, if you get help you can unbolt the bed, and wireharness for the lights. Then 1 at each wheelwell. Lift and set the bed on the tires. If you got no help then place the rear of the vehicle on jack stands, unbolt the bed, wiring harness, remove the bumper and slide the bed back untill it hits the brakes, should be plenty of room to remove the pump from the tank. You will need a large pair of channel-lock or equivilant pliers to remove the retaining ring. I think a 18mm or 3/4 I forget socket for the bed bolts, USE PLENTY OF ANTISEIZE ON THE BED AND BUMPER BOLTS AND TORQUE THEM CORRECTLY.

Easy repair took me alone 5 hours to do it and that includes jim beam breaks and a stuborn pump retaining ring.

also if you got napa, show em your AAA card and they will take a discount off the new pump. they carry GM pumps like 340 bucks.

Blow out the fuel pump area - get all the dirt and grit out of there.
Spray the lock ring area with WD40 or similar - it will come apart and go together easier.
No incandescent lights, either!

I probably shouldnt tell you that I used my zippo to melt the wire crimps with the replacement electrical connector.
