Without some sort of pressure exerted on the seal against the metal plate I am willing to be there will be some leakage, albeit slow leakage. In other words, the filter will probably drain after several days or a week, but maybe not overnight.
The ADBV rubber flapper is usually designed & molded to naturally put some sealing pressure against the base plate. I'm sure not all of them seal 100%, but at least from my experience the PureOnes with the silicone ADBV seem to seal very well.
In my 1989 F-150 with the 4.9 six I used the Fram OCOD because I believed their advertisements. This was before BITOG. After years of dry starts I went back to the Motorcradft FL1A and no more noise. Even for 5,000+ Oci's. It's just not the nitrile ADBV but the constuction of the filter using it.
^For my old car, the "OCOD" worked just fine and I only had one in the car's long history that drained overnight. I complained to Fram (Honeywell) so they asked me to send them the filter for testing. They sent me three of their top-of-the-line (whatever that was at the time) filters for my trouble. THEN, they mailed me back my old dirty filter in a bag. How dumb is that? They pronounced it perfectly fine even though the ADBV didn't work well on the Honda. That must be why Honda recommended using only Honda OEM filters back then.

Purolator does-it's called a PL30001 Pure One, and other than not having the base end bypass it's an awesome filter-works great on my Jeep 4.0, and is at least twice the size of the OEM.

Not quite the same, no thread end bypass and whatever magic that Motorcraft has that gives me no start up rattle, which I get with both PureOnes and Classics.
Big fan of the FL-1a as it is though, the only filter that beats it for starts in my Jeep is the Motorcrafts with the silicone ADBV, that's why I wish there was a FL-1As, I like the capacity and the Motorcraft "S" series magic.

Have you tried the Wix 51515? It has the silicone ADBV and should be base end bypass. I use it or the FL-1A on my F-150. I've had no problems. Back when I had the LTD, the Wix lacked an ADBV.
