This video was posted in here sometime ago. Tragedy is still with us as seat-belts were not mandatory and there were no airbags when this video was made, 1960s era. But folks are still dying in car accidents today, not much has changed in that respect.

In 1967, this movie and a few more like it were shown to us in the Navy when I was getting a Navy drivers license for aircraft equipment support. It may make you not want to drive your car.

thanks for sharing.

Not much in people's attitude has changed in some of the areas where they think they can do whatever they want to...including wearing seatbelts.

I seen that all the time and chances are, if something happens, they are the first to go away.

Simple as that.

I worked with a guy who refused to wear a seatbelt, insisting that it's more likely to trap him in the car than save his life. He's also a member of the chemtrails/vaccine/fluoride club, never finished high school, and spent his time getting high at home while thinking up more paranoid theories. I wonder if he's still alive.

Funny to see car that big......completely torn apart....like that they have been riding on sofa....rescuers didnt even need scisors to open that car

So much about safety cars in these days....

What I can't understand is why there are no motorcycle helmet laws but there are automobile seatbelt laws. I'd rather have a steel cage around me if I'm in an accident than nothing but air and the pavement.

Seeing there are way more cars on the road than motorcycles, the only answer is easy revenue via tickets.

Here's one perfect example where bigger cars (esp. from the days of yore) doesn't necessarily means "safer":

Also: NHTSA has been driving up safety standards on automobiles sold in NA, and as much as some folks hated it RE: making the vehicle heavier, penalised fuel economy, etc. fact is, even British cars in the early 90s, side-impact during collision mostly deemed fatal, due to dated collision tests methodology, and perhaps more.

We definitely live in a different world than it used to be (at least from an automobile standpoint). I'd rather drive a newer subcompact than a 58 chev belair...

I have wondered how motorcycles are allowed on the road AT ALL when you consider the mandatory crash requirements for automobiles.

Not that I'm against motorcycles, I feel people should be free to drive/ride what they want, as long as they do not pose a risk to others.

Thank you for posting.
It's interesting to see these old forgotten movies, that would be lost forever if it weren't for YouTube and the like.
