Sienna Trans. Jump

Thanks for the update Eric.

My 2000 Sienna has 160,000 miles with no transmission issues yet. I have been doing frequent drain and refills since I got the vehicle with about 35,000 miles on it. I am currently using maxlife high mileage transmission fluid.

If I was you I would do something to thicken up the fluid and get rid of the M1/schaffer blend. Maybe several drains and refills with maxlife atf. Your cold observations indicate that higher viscosity resolves the issue. Maybe maxlife with extra additive or more of the Lucas stuff or ???

Maxlife ATF with stop leak is slightly thicker than standard ATF. May also help swell seals and o-rings:

Castrol's import ATF is also slightly higher viscosity than standard DEXIII:

My 98 Sienna trans still operates perfectly with 219K on it.

Always did a the fluid at 10-15K and have had a couple of flushes. Ever since the factory fill have used Redline D4.

I'd use Type F instead if it calls for Dex III. I've used Lucas - once to kludge fix a fubar Honda transmission just so a friend can unload his car. I wouldn't use it in anything you own.

I'm thinking the dealership flat-rate techs may have snapped a connector or wire.

That is probably the situation. And as soon as their are no codes to rely on,those guy`s are lost.

Ok, 10W30 might not be such a great idea but what would Type F do? Type F is not any thicker than Dex III.

Also, if it is a loose wire or connector why does it run better in cold conditions.
