Okay, two of my cars got their change, now it's time for the final one. And this is the one that I had the thread about it sitting for a while.

Anyways, I had to have the dealership do my oil change on my Cobalt (had no place to do it), so I was talking to the guys about oil (actually a good discussion) and they wanted my to give their dexos oil (They use bulk AC for it) a try. I already had my oil, so I politely refused. Anyways, I ran into one at a local store, and told me he knew I had one car left, and gave me a coupon for a free OC so that I should try it.

Problem is, I already have oil for it (QSUD). But it's kinda hard to turn down free oil and filter, even if it's a blend.

I bet the bitoger in me is going to do it anyways...

And yes, I trust the dealership here..good bunch of people..

The VOA of ACDelco dexos oil looked very good, for a free oil and filter change I would be all over that.

How old is the QSUD? If it's API SN, it's a dexos1 oil.

UOA's of the AC Delco dexos1 oil in the Cruze's 1.4T engines show that it's good for 5000 miles in those engines, and no more. The QSUD is good for about 8000 miles, based on the experiences I've had with it in my Cruze's 1.4T.

Free is free, though. Go for it!

Free is free. Also for it does not matter what base stock the oil is as long as I am not voiding a warranty or trying to push a oil past its capabilities.

Dexos 1 is a pretty stringent spec, so I'd be more than pleased to be offered a free change using it.
I'd take them up on their offer.

Yeah, I'd agree with you guys...hard to pass up.

It's going into an engine that is easy on oil (2.2 ecotec), so no worries there..

Correct, and I've done dealer courtesy oil/filter changes in the past. Nothing to lose imo. As for Dexos (approved) oil though, more I read here, less I think of it. Nothing more than a licensing fee, and many respected oil companies, even former sponsors here aren't buying in. Think if I owned a new GM, I'd not be too concerned as long as it is recent SN spec and correct viscosity, but that's just me.
