Should I run 5w-30 or 5w-40 or.....?

So my Turbo Hyundai recommends 5w-30. However it also says I can use 5w-40. But of course they now have 0 weight oils too.

Since Michigan usually never gets extremely cold or extremely hot on a normal basis, would a 0 or 40 weight oil really be necessary or have any real advantages? Any real disadvantages?

Please make your case as I am wavering on the fence about switching.
There aren’t 0 weight oils just as there aren’t 40 weight oils. They are grades.

And the winter rating isn’t directly related to the operational viscosity.

And an oil with a 0W rating (any grade) isn’t relevant until you’re down to about -35 or so. Are you starting at this temperature?

Euro 0w40 and call it a day (y)

Someone say euro 0w40 🙈🙊🙊

The good news is that a high quality synthetic 5W-40 will provide a higher HTHS than just about any 5W-30. This is exactly what some highly stressed turbocharged engines need. Whether your engine is in this category or not, I can't say. Generally, there is no downside to the change.
Hypothetically , could the same engine (minus the turbo charger) be able to run the higher grade 5W40 with equal results in protection , usability , etc. ? In Hyundai / Kia engines - the turbo versions allow for the 5W40 option while the normally aspirated engines allow for 5W30 max .
