Some smaller used tire shops around here do that still. They tend to also do plugs and patches so it's very useful for them to have.

My nearest mom-and-pop tire store has huge claw-foot bath tub for their dunk tank. Sometimes it's the only way to find the small pinhead-sized bubbles that a leaking tire can have. This shop mainly has this tub for some large agriculture tires that they get in.
