hellow~

I have a 2002 Civic Si K20A3, 40,000 miles on the engine, 100% synthetic oil since I acquired it at 19,500 miles....question is....will I benefit from an ARX treatment??

I just did my valve clearance adjustment, it's a little beside the point, but I set the clearance at the minimum factory allowable clearance, and the car now runs a lot stronger in the higher RPMs....anyhoo....when the valve cover was off, I noticed there was no trace of sludge or any foreign objects, just your ordinary Honda valve train that looks shiny and brand spankin' new. I know the valve train surely does not speak for the whole engine.....but I thought it might indicate how "clean" the rest of the engine is...

need your input....

I would say its premature to use AutoRX at 40K, with the last 20K on synthetic.

You might want to consider LubeControl on a maintenance basis, but I would be inclined to revisit your needs at say 60K.

What kind of OCIs & driving conditions? Any idea of the history on the 1st 20k miles? What oil & weight had you been using? Any used oil analysis?

many will say that after even 5 miles, your engine will be accumulating harmful sludge, etc. While it is true, if the engine has been taken care of, and the engine isnt known for bad sluding, etc., there is no necessary need.

I would use LC in a maintenance dose to ensure the oil keeps up to its tasks and does not break down prematurely.

I honestly think that it would be a waste of time and money in your situation. Maybe one dose after 100K, but not now. Unless you are extending your OCIs....I wouldn't add anything. Just keep using the synthetic and changing as usual.
