I'll be going on a ~1500-2000 mile trip around the end of may. Right now, I have 5850 miles on this fill of Castrol Edge. The way I figure it ,by the end of the trip, if I stick with this fill, I'll have roughly 7800-8200 miles on this oil change. Wondering if I should change it before I go. I would probably fill with Edge. And yes, I'm going to do a UOA this time I promise. It's been pretty much all highway, so I bet the oil will be fine but...

What's you're guys opinion?

I'll get flamed but.................I'd change it late May just before the trip, its been in there all winter. Also the engine is probably still shedding some break-in metals [2011 in sign line?] which would be nice to get out before the trip. Boring, and wasteful to some, but......JMO

I go along with these guys..I would definitely change it.

I always like having fresh oil change before a trip anyway. Not that it is absolutely necessary but sometimes a trip my end being more miles than you planned if you take some diversions.

Doesn't Ford now recommend 7,500 mile oil changes with their Motorcraft semi syn blends? If they do you should be fine even for warranty purposes.

And it will be totally fine.
Got some PYB 5w20 for my first oil change in my new '11 Civic.

Oil changes never felt so good. Good choice. Now, just be sure to monitor your filter/drain plug for a little bit, just in case for leaks. It is a new vehicle. This is assuming you haven't worked on this particular vehicle much before.
