Shell -vs- Pennzoil

These are both SOPUS oils, but I'm curious as to how close their formulations are to each other. Anyone care to guestimate?

Pennzoil is the number 1 selling oil in America...me thinks more money is spent on R&D for yellow bottle than the others...Have you searched this site for VOA's and UOA's?...

I checked the VOA forum; no sign of Formula Shell that I can find.

Pennzoil has more moly in it that FS...but they still both have great add-packs...FS has something like 30-50 ppm of moly, and about the same amount of Boron, whereas Pennzoil will have 150-200 ppm of moly, and about 20-40 ppm of boron..

There may not be VOA's, but there are lots of UOA's on both products, so you can see roughly what they have.....

I would think the base oil source & grade are different too.

Shell, Pennzoil, and Quaker State are seperate entities under the ownership of Shell.
Formulas are different and most base stocks are purchased seperately as well.
They are not just different bottles of the same stuff.
I speak of engine oils here; some low volume fluids may be the same product in differing packaging.

With VSOT (so I don't put much on this one)

And so on

I only went back a couple of years.

And UOAs are MUCH more important than any VOA IMO.
