PYB VS QSAD VS FS (SN)

Ok this is for you seasoned BITOGers, which stands up better to shearing and fuel dilution, Pennzoil, Quaker, or Formula Shell?

I do believe that Pennzoil conventional would stand on top in terms of cleaning but is it possible that maybe Quaker State or Formula Shell would be a stronger oil in terms of taking abuse?

They are all almost identical oils.

Not sure about those, but according to Amsoil's test, Synpower does a good job with fuel dilution. That, along with the inexpensive price I was able to get it for, is why the DI engine in my Equinox will be getting Synpower once my free oil changes from GM are over in five thousand miles.

It's we're talking abuse don't forget about Valvoline conventional

That recent UOA on a DI engine motivated me to build a shrine to Valvoline conventional in my basement!

All good oils... can't go wrong with any of them. FS might have the advantage if they're still throwing loads of moly in it.

IMO....these are just my personal uses with these fine SOPUS products.

PYB excellent oil with great detergents and increase in Moly with SN formulation. Good for 6 to 7K if you need to go that long.

Quaker State Conventional excellent oil. Very durable and some Moly good for 6K.

Formula Shell. I've used this oil in a mix as well as a stand alone product. Great Add Pack and very durable oil that is loaded with Moly. Great for 6 to 7K runs if you need to go that distance. I plan on using FS 5w20 with a blend of Shell Rotella, Triple Protection 15w40 in a 50/50 or 60/40 mix when I get back to Coney Island. I plan on running this mix during the Summer and I will change it out November for a Winter Mix.

For this coming winter, I plan on running Shell Rotella T6, 5w40 with Formula Shell Full Synthetic, 5w20 in a 50/50 or 60/40 mix.

Question on Formula Shell Oil : Why do people lump Formula Shell with Chevron Supreme for comparison ? Arn't they made by different companies ??

yes they are, but they are both sleeper oils

All three are fine oils....just get what you can on sale.

Well, you can get Quaker State Conventional in quarts, on sale for $2.39 a quart this week, at your local Kmart. Just make sure to pick up a store-wide circular in case they don't have any Quaker State Conventional left on the shelf.

Then you can get a price match at Walmart for the Quaker State Conventional price. Kmart never seems to have enough in stock for their advertised sale items.....especially motor oil. Or you can just pick up a 5+ quart jug at Walmart for $12.50....55 cents more for the convenience of a 5+ quart jug.

so from what i can tell no one has seen a used oil analysis of the three oils in the same type of engine and compared them.

This is the same question you asked yesterday, or the day before about a Traverse with 35K on it. You are asking it in a similar way

no not really. yesterday i was asking if anyone thought a thicker oil like maxlife would perform better in a shear prone engine with fuel dilution. today the question is which SOPUS oil will shear less.

i guess i should run all three and post used oil analysis for comparison
