Hey Ashland the American blender is the only one left except for the high$$ oil, that gives you info. How accurate, is another story, but still. Oil co. what do you expect??? making more money these days Mobil as an example,

and hiring less. I keep it in mind when I shop that is the only way.

Well, Otto, I don't know about all that, but I would agree that providing product data sheets and providing them accurately seem to be low on the list of priorities for a lot of these companies.

Garak, I wonder which oil these specs are for. If you plug the numbers into a viscosity calculator, these numbers give you a pretty good cold number and a 176 VI. Better than Syntec or PP.

Which one you referring to ? The SHELL full synthetic or the conventional ? Which weight too ( or all ) .

I was referring to 5W30 but as to which one it is, we don't know. Both PDS have the same information on them.

That's a good question. While I noticed they were identical across the board, I didn't play with the numbers at all to determine which product the PDS apparently matched.

I think I came across the issue when I was checking out conventional, current SN/GF-5 5w30 oil sheets for the G, and I had glanced at the odd synthetic for the fun of it. Formula Shell was on my short list because of the attractive regular price.

I initially thought perhaps conventional, just glancing at the pour point, but since it's not a PAO, its pour point won't be ridiculously low, anyhow. I didn't delve into the numbers as deeply as you did; that VI is pretty impressive. I guess that just shows how useless pour point really is - might indicate Group IV if really low, but aside from that, tells us very little.

Looking back at the other numbers right now, and what you gleaned from them, it certainly might be the sheet for Formula Shell Synthetic. They still have a bunch of SM/GF-4 stuff posted, too. What a honking mess.

They may not be on the Pennzoil site but they are available here.

Looking at the different spec sheets, it would appear for example the 5w20 sn dino has the same spec's as the 5w20 sm syn. Could this be possible?

That would be nice but I doubt that is the case.
After going through the sheets, only looking at the 5W30 though, syn SM, syn SN and dino SN all have the same specs. The only one that is different is dino SM.
