been thinking about switching my 140,000 mile '94 toyota 4runner to it. I bought the truck with 115K, previous owner used typical dino 10-30s like Penzwax. I've run mobil 1 10w-30 in since. it's got the 3.0 V6 and it doesn't smoke. I live in south Florida and it gets very hot in the summer and even hot in the winter. My 4runner is a very modified off-roader and daily driver. 35" MT tires, Dana 44 front axle, metal bumpers, etc. I daily drive it in tampa's traffic and wheel it hard on the weekends and it sees a good amount of "highway" driving.. i have 5.29 gears so it revs decent at 70; 3grand. Reason I've been thinking about switching is A-Cost.. I'm tired of paying mobil 1 prices. 2- I researched API ratings and the diesel oils seem to meet higher standards. and I heard bad things about the new SM oil rating.

sounds like a good plan.. the 3L will do just fine. these are known for head gasket issues as i'm sure you know. as long as its been sealed up good it'll break around the engine. welcome to bitog! and lets see some pics..

...mudd

that's what I figured, and being I live where outside temps easily are 100F.. But some people i've asked are all like you need 0w-30. I'm like.... I beleive in all this new Syn thin oil stuff, but A- I aint paying for it, B- i got 140K and live in FL and drive "hard".

Delo's a better buy than the Rotella dino.
Rotella syn 5-40 is good WM syn at $3.60 qt
if you just want to pay less than M1.

Rotella syn being closed out at Advance for 3.00 a gallon. Shell Rimula 15-40, .31 a quart. Delo is 1.50. Look around your local AA clearance rack. Isn't penzwax is what's on the end of your Bic Stic after using it to clean your ear?

Beanoil,
Anywhere near Chicago??

You are better with the Mobil1 and just extend the intervals to 1 year 8000-10000 miles. Your vehicle is water cooled so as long as your cooling system is clean and functioning properly you will not have any problems with 10w30. As soon as this run is done with the M1 tsuv its back to the good stuff, 10w30 with a quart of 15w50.
