Advance Auto Parts is holding a fantastic sale on transmission fluid (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/content_aap-flyer___), which is tempting to buy for my next transmission flush. Trouble is, I will probably not be due for another two years.

Is anyone aware of articles/info on how long transmission fluid can sit on the shelf and still be usable? (Given that it is a moderate, dry shelf in unopened containers)

Specifically looking at the Castrol container on a dry shelf in a connected garage with moderate temperature flux.

It might last for quite a few years, but whenever I use transmission oil, I give the bottle a good shake. Last summer I used some oil that had quite a few deposits on the bottom of the containers.

I define moderate storage temperatures as between 0F and 105F.

If the seal has not been broken and the ATF is stored as above, it should have a 10 year min life span.

If the seal has been broken, all bets are off.
