Shelf Life 0w/40 Castrol Edge

I have had a couple of Castrol Edge 0w/40 5-quart jugs in my garage (not climate controlled) for about 5-6 years now.... I am in NC, so you can get an idea of what the climate is.
Due to my laziness / and sometimes using Pennzoil Ultra 5w/40, I have neglected to use this oil.

Would there be a problem using this? I have no idea what the shelf life of motor oil is, i general. Is there anyway to check like a simple test that one can do to make sure it's not unsuitable for use?

Use it; none of what you described has impacted the quality of the oil in any demonstrable way.

Use it. NC climate is no match for Castrol

I used plenty of 10 yr old Castrol 0W30 magic green without apparent problems, in OPE and various vehicles.

The oil is shot. Send it to me and I will dispose of it.

Give it a good shake and use away.

Shake it up and pour it in. My stash of the same goes back 3 to 4 years.

OK. will take a good look at it before I use but I feel a lot more comfortable now about using it for the next OC in the Bimmer

If the container is intact and the oil meets the spec of the vehicle it is going into, use it.
