Broke 2 of the 11 trans pan bolts doing the first ATF service on my Touareg at 80k. Replaced the rest with grade 8 bolts. Torqued them to spec with a new gasket - no leaks.
Did the filter again at 120k with a new gasket and re-used the bolts I installed - still no leaks at 135.
To everyone saying the bolt should "come right out." In a perfect world. Maybe. Mine were stuck hard and directly above a cross member. If it doesn't leak, it doesn't leak.
