I know some have said it...get your licks in for the next 2-52 weeks.

Awake on and off through the night with an ear ache ('tis the season)...Woke up this morning feeling like I'd had a dental visit. While brushing teeth in shower realised something was definitely not right, rinse and spit had no actual meaning, and I realised that I wasn't holding the brush to my teeth with my cheek (think about it a bit).

Anyway, a GP visit (an hour), off to the ER (my BP had them worried...white coat syndrome, my newly developed symptom, a sealed letter to the ER doctors, and a "go there now" had ME worried 50/20 points worth it seems, as that's what got wiped off as the ER doctor told me what was actually going on...

Bell's Palsy is the diagnosis, and time, and a week on 'roids is apparently the fix.

So anyway, I'm a drooling Shannow at the present point in time, regularly dropping PVA into my eye, and having to tape one shut at around 10-11PM, and keep it that way (at least while I sleep)...

Ahh geez that sounds bad... I hope you heal up real good. Take it easy and get some rest. Sleep, and the meds, will help you. Get well soon Shannow!

My mother had Bells Palsy years ago - on Xmas Day. Everyone thought she'd had a stroke because her face was paralysed on one side. Like you, a worry at the time, a relief to find it's not a big problem.

Buddy of mine had that some years ago and like Silk, we all thought he had a stoke. Once we found out what it was, we told him to get an eye patch and live the life of a pirate till it passed.

Get well soon and you'll be in my prayers for a quick recovery.

I don't agree with the title of this post. I don't think you're an idiot. Maybe it should just be: Shannow's a droolin'

Yeah, it's scary when the body does funny things.

Take care, hope you're better soon.

Facial nerves make it to your face through the ear holes in the skull. Inflammation of ear canal, and viruses (herpes of multiple persuesions) can cause either swelling, or things to swell against the nerve.

Time is apparently the healer, steroids give time a better go allegedly. antivirals if I had crusty ear tubes

I have two friends who have had it. Time is what it takes. They both recovered fully and have full feeling once again.

I think it hurt one of them more mentally, so I would call him and keep his spirits up. That said, keep posting and your BITOG buds will take care of you. Drooling idiots are most welcome here.
