Can someoone recommend me a good shampoo for GUY hair? I've been out of the normal shampoo that I use and used some of my wife's - oy! now my hair is all silky and wavy and unmanageable.

I don't remember the name of the one i used as wife had thrown the bottle away

anyway, even THAT one made my hair too 'thin' and wavy.

Anyone know of a good shapmoo (except head and shoulders- which makes me sneeze a million times when I use it) that cleans well BUT does NOT make your hair all silky and girly

Thanks!

Here's a secret: most body washes and shampoos are virtually identical. Shampoos just contain extra moisturizers and conditioners. Use your existing body wash in your hair. There are tons of male-oriented choices out there by Gilette, Neutrogena, Dove, etc.

If you can't do Head & Shoulders, try Selsun Blue. Different active ingredient but still anti-dandruff.

You could also go for something like Neutrogena T-Gel but it is more expensive (though very good for the scalp). Smells awful but works really well. I use it for seborrhoeic dermatitis.

^ Tea Tree Oil is an established scalp health product though it is still not as effective as the active ingredients in H&S, Selsun Blue, and T-Gel. Lots of companies offer TTO products, fortunately.

I'd suggest tea tree oil if you have occasional itchy scalp or whatever.

My dermatologist suggested getting TTO and one of the others and periodically alternating (every few days). If you stick with the same shampoo for too long your scalp and hair begin "resisting" the active ingredient.

damdruff or dry cralp hair, try drink plenty of water and eat more fruit. stress also give dandruff or dry cralp hair , dont use too much drandruff shampoo , twice a week is good, and just use regular shampoo , and drink more water !

Pyrithione Zinc is the active ingredient in most all anti dandruff shampoos, and any shampoo that isn't all natural with use sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate as the main "degreaser" if you will. Fragrances and PH levels distinguish the brands and make youe hair feel either thin and silky or thicker and manlier!

From what I've read, pyrithione zinc does actually decrease hair diameter in many men. I've read anti dandruff shampoos that contain piroctone olamine can actually increase hair diameter and hairs in the anagen phase. There have been some studies about this if you look it up online. I've had good luck with The Body Shop Ginger Scalp shampoo for dandruff and making my hair feel thicker. It has piroctone olamine as the active ingredient. It's not cheap, but it's a good shampoo. Ginger is supposedly another ingredient that's good for your scalp and hair.

There other men's shampoos that claim to make your hair look fuller but I've never tried them, such as Loreal Vive for men.

Sodium lauryl sulfate (sp??) is the problem and it's found in just about all shampoo's. Read the ingredients. That's what makes the shampoo all sudsy. You got to go organic, try Burts Bee's. Stuff is great and fixed any dandruff problem I had.

Ginger stimulates the blood flow on scalps making hair to grow thicker and stronger.

I've used this in the past and really liked it, but found that for my hair, which tends to get greasy by the end of the day it took two washes. It's kind of pricy though, so now I use Head & Shoulders.
