Seriously considering 2012 Accord 4dr EX-L V6 Navi

Break in means no cruise and no redline.

All that auto dimming does is make it unnecessary for you to flick the tilt control between day and night....no nighttime glare...

I understand the function of the auto dimming. I am just not convinced that there is enough dimming being done. I think old manual mirrors had more dimming. I would like to know if this is to be expected or needs to be checked out.

Congrats on your new vehicle.

I too was overwhelmed by the excessive buttons in my Acura MDX 07 with tech package. Now its 2nd nature.

Not sure what to say on the mirror, mine works fine.

Nicety in NAV is the DVD has data for Canadian cities near US borders.

Whatever I can say about the plethora of buttons or the fat rear end but one smash on the gas pedal and I forget everything else!

I have yet to change any of the settings. I suppose dedicating few hours to read the manual and then sitting in the car for an hour to go through the options would be worth it. The salesman spent couple of hours explaining and setting up bunch of stuff but we barely scratch the surface.

The opposite of the plethora of buttons in a modern luxury car is the nothing in a S2000. There is no auto dimming, no auto climate setting, no Homelink, no NAV ... It has basic HAC control on the right side of the instrument, some basic audio control(for radio and CD) buttons of the left side and mirror control on driver door panel.

The first time I sat in the car, a quick glance around I knew how to operate those few buttons without reading the manual. The car was designed for driving, not for playing with gazillion buttons.

Did I miss the photographs of this "alleged" new vehicle?

Can anybody suggest a decent iPhone application which will *automatically* upload pictures from the phone to the web? Otherwise, I will try to grab manufacturer's photo if I could get the exact color and trim - 2012 TL FWD Tech Package with Graphite Luster Metallic / Taupe interior.

The engine is rev happy and the car is so stable at triple digit, I can easily passing the 100 mark if I don't look at the speedometer.

There is some buffering built into the system, but I find this highly dependent on the time of day for some reason. Maybe the satellite changes position throughout the day some. On the ride to work, I never get reception cut-outs, even under an overpass. On the ride home FROM work, I always get reception cut-outs, from the SAME overpasses under which I traveled in the mroning.

By the way, I think you made the right choice. I spent about 3 hours in my mother-in-law's 2010 TL this weekend in Virginia. It's VERY easy to make time on the interstate at super-legal speeds in that car.

Few days ago, the free XM subscription expired. It has been already 3 months since I took the delivery of the Acura. The car has over 4K miles and lifetime average as shown by MID is at 29mpg. Yes, I drive like a grandma. I pushed it for 1st 600 miles but afterwards I have been driving very sedately. The OLM is at 60%. It drops 10% every 900 miles or so.

The car is extremely filthy as it has not even been washed since day one. Can anybody beat that record?? :-(

But since paint has not been touched, the finish is still flawless :-)

It is still fun to drive and triple digits can be reached briskly if needed. I am still impressed how the auto transmission behaves like a good old manual transmission with all of the engine braking

Just under 5K miles with 50% OLM; I am not sure if I have the courage to wait until it reaches 15%. Is 5W20 factory fill full synthetic or semi-synthetic and conventional?

With the onset of the winter, mileage is now dropping. Even driving like a grandma, it is no longer reaching 30 any more.

When there is a passenger and seat heater is on, out of blue I get the yellow passenger airbag off warning light on some curve. It stays on for few seconds and then goes away. I wonder if it is recording anything in the memory. I don't have SRS scanner to see if it has stored any codes. I am not sure I want dealer to chase this unless there are codes stored in the system. 99% I will be told "NPF"! May be I should take a look under the passenger seat and see if wiring needs to be re-routed.

Sounds like the passenger occupancy sensor is tripping, maybe being somehow affected by the heating element itself. Getting that sensor replaced is a major PITA on most cars as it requires the upholstery to come off. I wouldn't run to the dealer with it just yet, but make sure to bring it up to them while you're there for some other reason before the warranty is up.

Many moons ago, I had purchased a scanner with the ABS+SRS capability but hooking up to my Maxima caused it to trip the SRS light :-( I returned that scanner.

I would tell the dealer about the occurrences and ask them to check for the stored codes and give me the printout. No harm in asking but I suspect I'm going to be told that there were no codes found.

As far as I know, any transient fault in the SRS system should be logged for future analysis. May be time to see if ebay has HDS priced cheaply!

I gave up on my MM on my 2012 Si at somewhere between 10-12k, on my factory fill, iirc. My mpg in my Si has dropped during this winter as well. I could drive it like I stole it during the summer and still see 32 mpg on a tank. Now I'm having to drive like a grandma to get the same numbers...

You say the light comes on on curves... In my 02 CR-V, when it was our main family vehicle and I was driving my wife around in it, if she would lean toward the passenger door any, the "side airbag off" light would come on. I got to be ridiculous on long trips, where my wife always sleeps while I drive. She woke many times to the tune of my yelling "SIDE AIRBAG OFF!"

I've not noticed a separate "side airbag" light on any of the three newer hondas I've owned since then. I wonder if they lump that function in with the main "passenger airbag off" light???

On our (since sold) 2001 Accord, there was a sensor for the side airbag (not passenger front airbag, the one on the B pillar) that determined whether someone was in the seat. The owner's manual stated that "children and short-statured adults" may disable the airbag. My wife, who's 5' 3", if she leaned a certain way, would turn the light on.

I think the 3.5 is now filled with the syn-blend 0w20. I would not run it for the full 10k. If you plan to go with the OLM, fill it with synthetic 0w20 Mobil 1. I do not think the TL has VCM, but if it does, do not follow the OLM.

No VCM! The dealer Mobil oil change sticker on the glass says "15%", I think I will have it done at 30%. First couple oil changes I am going to go with the dealer and do it at about 50% and then go full synthetic.
