Selling my '24 GR86 and '18Forester

In two years when we will have been in a retirement village. I want a 4Runner. Wife is not keen on one car, but it needs to be. Our expenses will be up and Inflation will probably continue at 4+%. Hoping to lay out zero $$$s. 4Runner gets like 40MPG around town.

Anyone have one. They seem to be liked?

My 4Runner gets 17 mpg around town. Maybe the new ones 2025+ will be slightly better?

My daughter has the current model and I find it a rather rough ride.

Just sell the sports car and stay with the Forester. I would bet you wont save any money by trading the GR and Forester and getting a pricy junky 4runner - the grass is always greener. At least private sell the GR86.

You don't like your subaru sports car? A certified BMW M roadster would nave been more enjoyable - just think, you could have fun at the dealer service center many times a year

What the hay is a retirement village? Sounds like a horror story.

My Sister and hubby are in The Villages in FLA. Planned community I would guess. They use an electric golf cart to get around.
That kind of joint?

There can be several different kinds of retirement villages. The one you mentioned has it's own zip code for example. However, there are Masonic Homes, Sewickly PA and Elizabethtown PA. Also Moosehaven, near Jacksonville.
Probably others.
BTW, were talking several stages of "end of life" living, from community gardening and activities, to complete assisted living and nursing.

Seems like you should slow down first and consider all your priorities.

We are talking about getting rid of a perfectly decent car (no issues), bought new (?) in late 2023 or 2024? I mean maybe you won't take a bath, but what was the future looking like then?

Look at a CRV as another suggestion. Easy to drive, GREAT mpg, lot more room than it looks, reliable or keep the Subie until you don't need to drive, not sure where this is headed moneywise.

Why did you buy the sporty can then all of a sudden decide to sell it? is this common impulse buying cars?

I worked at one briefly. Think a large multi acre retirement home but apartments in the 1-3,000 square foot range custom built to your wants. Add fine dining ( multiple restaurants) a movie theater, a chapel with service for multi denominational religions, a bank, a private security company, a Walgreens or store and you get the idea.

I guess you are thinking about the new 2025 4Runner which can be had with the optional Turbo 4 cylinder Hybrid called "iForce Max". The optional hybrid on this 4runner is not really meant for gas mileage. It's for additional power, especially torque which increases to a whopping 465 ft/lb. I don't know where you are getting that 40 mpg figure. More like 20.

But I don't see how you could save any money. Those range $60k - $75k.

I concur; I get just under 15MPG with a mix of roughly 70 percent “city” and 30 percent highway driving. Of course city fuel usage rate for me means often stopping at rural, uncontrolled intersections. I happily live in the middle of nowhere— thus owning a 4Runner.

Naa..I knew I would have it only 2 years. I just wanted a 2year toy. Makes no sense to have 2 cars there. They have a campus bus and the apartments are attached to a building that has 3 dining rooms, stores, etc.

Great truck. Wife's ride. hoping it last a long time.
Not much better fuel wise than my Tundra.
Another great truck.
