Selling my '24 GR86 and '18Forester

Sell off the 86 and hang onto the forester moving is a headache by itself mix that with settling into retirement I’d say any vehicle purchases would be furthest from my mind.

I have an ICE 2020 Rav4 LE FWD. Average over 36mpg. Decent all around daily driver. No real complaints. I would pass on the current Hybrid because of cablegate since you live in the rust belt. The redesign coming up in 2026 is supposed to be Hybrid only and will hopefully eliminate that issue once and for all. That being said, keeping the Forester and selling the 86 like mentioned above would probably be best bet. Did you do the math to see if there truly is any benefit to trading for a new Hybrid? I doubt it would pencil out since most retired folks don't put on a lot of miles.

My daughter has the current model and I find it a rather rough ride.
It handles like an ox cart. I rented a 22 IIRC and with my normal (to me) driving style, I was chirping and groaning the rear tires around corners. Bumpy too. Looks nice and is reliable I'm sure but it's not a wife-mobile.

Keep the Forester, sell the 86 and pocket the difference. Like you said, expenses will be up anyway as well as inflation.

Re: Selling the GR86…
On another forum a guy posted:
"But, the day may come when I just need a car to get groceries and get to doctors appointments.....in that case I may want something that gets me from A to B and needs a minimum amount of maintenance."
I replied:
“That's the day I pull my car into the garage, close the door, and leave the motor running.
Think: Fred Astaire in On the Beach.”
