Only the pressurized oil system units have a low oil shutoff. Splash lube develops no oil pressure to use on a pressure switch which would open or short the ingnition.


Yet many low cost splash lube engine generators have the low oil shut off switch.

Lots of splash lubed engines have a low oil shutoff, almost all of the Honda GX series come with one or have the option to add one, it's similar to a float switch and can be very aggrevating after spending 20 minutes trying to start a piece of equipment just to realize that it's a little low on oil. As someone who has close to 80 pieces of equipment powered by GX motors I made this error quite a few times over the years.

That's a good point ironman! I've never seen a Honda GX w/out the low oil ignition kill switch.

OP, out of curiosity, what type make/model/style snowblower is this?
