My daughter's '04 Sebring with 2.7L engine. 125,000 miles. Parts below are original.

I just replaced the oil pressure sender to alleviate a leak.

My mechanic friend checked the codes and got:
PO432 - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank 2
PO340 - No camshaft sensor signal detected during engine cranking.

The car stumbles/misses at around 2800rpm then smooths out.

Can anyone help id which o2 sensor the 432 might be?
Any ideas if the 340 or 432 is causing the "stumbling"?
Could the camshaft sensor trigger the o2 sensor?

Finally..any help to pinpoint the problem rather than just swap out parts.

Thanks!!!!!

P0340 is the Camshaft Position sensor. I had the same symptoms as you (mine also stalled once or twice)... It's fairly easy to change as it is at the top of the engine (I changed mine about 5 months ago). The replacement from the dealer is exactly the same as the one from Advanced Auto or Autozone or etc. so save 40 bucks and get it from an aftermarket store. Note, it might LOOK different than the one you pull out, as did mine, but will work nonetheless.

Also, youtube "Replacing a Camshaft position sensor on a 2002 Chrysler Sebring" and it will show you how to do it. I would post the link... but I'm pretty sure it's not allowed.

CPS probly wont fix both. it sounds like the downstream sensor (the one after the cat). I can never remember which side is bank one and the FSM doesn't say - at least not on my LH. also, some people have luck with aftermarket sensors but just as many of us on one of the Dodge sites have had ALOT of problems with the Bosch 02 sensors that AZ sells. I personally have two in the garage that wouldnt work right outa the box. In my case I got them for $55 from the dealer and wont ever try Bosch again - at least not on an OBD II dodge/jeep/chrysler

just disconnect one of your 02 sensors and see which bank it reports - that should tell you which side is bank 2.

My mechanic friend (lifesaver)thought that might be a possibility also.

My daughter is one term away from finishing nursing school and this is one way for me to help her. Between the oil sensor and the CPS I may have saved her $200 IF my repairs work.

My sincerest thanks to both (three) of you.

Edit.....well, maybe I'll have to investigate more!!!!! ONE WEB SOURCE FOR THE 3.0 ENGINE INDICATES BANK 2 IS THE LEFT SIDE......I ASSUME THE ENGINE "FRONT"....MAYBE THIS APPLIES TO THE 2.7 ALSO?? http://www.leeland.net/2004st22v6.html (bottom)

My Haynes manual shows 2 bank 1 sensors and 3 bank 2 sensors. My code is the last listed bank 2.

Is there a rotten smell? When the o2 sensor is bad the code shows the the 02 sensor is bad. Catalyst efficiency below threshold sounds like a converter problem. Also bank 1 is driver side and bank 2 is passenger side, at least for a rear wheel drive car. Not sure about a front wheel drive.

I'm kind of suprised it threw the cat code with the ignition problem, sometimes they shut off further diagnostics until the cam sensor is fixed. Maybe the cat code came first? Either way you sound like you're on the right track and don't need the cat working right away for a smog inspection etc.
