I know Seattle has greater traffic problems vs Vancouver but our inability to build proper infrastructure almost seems purposeful. It's a strange thing.

"it's the lack of planning for growth. stoopids - you build the roads first, then the houses"

It's not stupid, it's the typical deal where real estate developers make a killing, clog up the schools and roads, and people already there are supposed to subsidize the development by paying for more schools and roads. If they merely made developers and people buying new houses to pay their way, where all pay on a prorated basis, there'd be no problems.

As an example, what kind of infrastructer was needed for farms in the area ? Volunteer fire dept, a sheriff that drove by once a week, limited road system, a smaller school, etc.

Now, what kind of infrastructure is needed for an additional 100,00 people ?

Let the people in the farm house pay based on the infrastructure that was needed when only the farm house was there, let people in the new houses pay for what is needed for their population.

Its no different in other areas...

I like NJ, Ive lived there all my life. One good friend has lived in central NJ all his life.

I have an apartment in DE for conveneince of access to Philadelphia... traffic stinks through the state. For the traffic ive had to deal with in NJ, its fine compared tothe delaware idiots... He just moved to DE because of a new job... and mentions the exact same thing.

They put up all sorts of houses where land and tax was cheap, and idnt put in new roads. The people cant drive, and they get fed up with sitting in traffic, so they become more aggressive and lousier at driving, plus more rude.

Im telling you... traffic flows better in DC than it does in DE!

People who build up areas are idiots no matter where you are. Its disgusting.

Rant off, sorry for hijacking your post...

That's why it's great to live where there are less people every year, not more.
Evacuation problems and real estate bubbles, bah, they're only issues in places where people want to live.

Side note: We've opened the unused parsonage next to my church (the preacher bought his own house) to a family from Biloxi, MS who lost everything. So far they like it here real well, OTOH it isn't winter yet.
