I heartily endorse everything you say, with the minor caveat that the FR-S/BRZ has back seats. They're small, but not Porsche 911 small!

and I'm sure they can be Removed without too much bother.

Wonder how nice the new Miata and the new genesis will be? Miata got too big and heavy (currently built over the extinct rx8 platform ive heard) I would like to see a 215hp 2.5 R option in the BRZ. Currently the mid 90 mph 1/4 mile speed is NOTHING to sneeze at for street use. I don't see any of guys using all available power willing to run with me in my 117 hp Fit in any sports car. Ya my car is a joke - but I recall back in the day killing a Porsche in my sleeper 350hp v8 vega I built in the late 70's using a don hardy kit and a z28 sourced 10 bolt posi. Stealth surprise.

I think part of the problem is that street rubber has gotten so sticky that it takes alot of hp to steer with the throttle, and removing the possibility of throttle modulated power slide makes the car boring.
Sure, when on the clock, more grip is better and gives lower times, but for driving pleasure, having all the rwd driving tools easily available is more fun IMO.
I used to love zipping around corners in my Dads miata with 10yr old tires as you could invoke power oversteer, power understeer, drop throttle oversteer, and no squealing tires to alarm anyone.

In 2008 I went on a round of test drives and a new Miata was on the list. I had a buddy with an old first gen Miata that he let me drive to the dealership.

The new Miata didn't feel much different than the old one. Yeah, it was bigger and heavier, you're basically trading a touch of nimbleness for a touch of increased stability. But the new Miata was unmistakably a Miata.

To be honest, I think I would actually prefer an NC to the older ones. There are excellent no-drill, bolt in roll-bars for track duty and just as healthy an aftermarket if you're inclined to modify.

Sure, but can you get one that doesn't void the new car warranty?
Having a warranty is one of the biggest reasons people buy new cars.

Can the supercharger be made smog legal? On other cars, some aftermarket superchargers are smog legal, and some aren't.

I read that you are concerned about not getting good premium gasoline where you live. Having a supercharger means the car is even more sensitive to changes in fuel octane.

If I has enough money to buy a Subaru BRZ, I would just buy a WRX instead. It is another car that isn't FWD, and it has a turbo engine with a factory warranty.
