Finally got internet installed last week at my home in a rural area.

Now I'm looking for a streaming media player for my TV's

I have a fire stick from Amazon on one TV and like it okay. Seems like alot of movies however you have to have Amazon prime.

Noticed alot of players on Ebay that have KODI installed. Apparently you can get a lot of channels and movies with this. Don't really know much about it though.

They range in price from about $20 to over a hundred.

Anyone have one they really like???

There are a lot of variety and all of them are made in China.

At this point, one of the latest and greatest is the one with Amlogic S912 processor.
Buy one with 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC memory.
Make sure it can do 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi plus 100/1000 Ethernet speed (with cable connection).

Also, the Amazon FireTV Box is on Black Friday sale right now and the Refurb is even cheaper, although, it is a little bit older model.
Spec is very good.
You can install KODI in there also using instruction @ Youtube.

I hope this help.

Yeah, Amazon is positioning themselves to compete with Netflix.
A few years ago most of their content was free with Prime. They've changed quite
a bit since then. They are selling "channels" for additional money, as well
as giving some content free with Prime. It's the future of TV viewing, which
is, instead of bundling you into a few tiers like cable does, let you choose,
among many, the tiers you want to pay for.

I have to agree.

Yes. Roku is good. It has Amazon and Netflix on it as well as other streaming services. I have an AppleTV too but I think the Roku is the better device. Im' a mac fan too so saying I like Roku better is quite a jump for me. AppleTV does not have Amazon on it and probably never will. IF you are a Mac home the AppleTV can stream from you iTunes library of music and video. Still, I like the Roku better.

We have the Amazon Fire stick, mostly to watch Amazon, Hulu, Netflix and a few of the other streaming services, many free.

Kodi is streaming pirated, illegally copied movies. We should be very clear about this.

If that is true then I don't want to try any other. We get annoyed every time they mess around with the menus. Stuff is never in the same place it seems; favorites or last watched moves around (making it harder to pick up where we left off). Hard life I know, but have to kvetch about something, sometimes.

We do like ours and would replace in a heartbeat if it ever died. 99% of our TV watching is from that & Netflix.
