I have followed BITOG for a decade plus, may have even posted in the past. I don't have a big operation BUT have switched all oils on my work truck (a 2001 Dodge Ram, one owner, 25 years old in September, 344K miles) to Schaeffer's products over time. I also pull a couple of trailers occasionally. I am looking to now switch grease, the last area I haven't converted over to Schaeffer's. I need something hopefully suitable for all the suspension joints, u joints and the two trailer hubs both of which are Dexter axles. I have a lot of fittings on this Dodge now since I have upgraded almost all factory parts as well as the u joints.
I have in the past been using Mobile One Synthethic grease, BUT as I have found and as evidenced by a lot of others here it bleeds oil out bad, so done with that. The shop that did a ton of front end work this last winter put Valvoline Multi Vehicle Moly in the ball joints and all the front-end parts, tie rod, etc. I could continue with that too. Trailer hubs I pull and clean, so those will be clean start, all the other grease points will be a switch in place so compatible with a lithium base which the aluminum base Schaeffer's would be.
I have read a ton here, BUT the 219 I think is newer than a lot of older threads where 274 was recommended. Also, I have read a ton on here about moly vs non moly for wheel bearings and needle bearings, so there is that discussion too if worth discussing.
I think I have narrowed the suitable Schaeffer's grease choices to 219 or 274 but honestly am unclear which might be best. If I am reading chatter here correctly back a number of years, the 219 is the newest product and maybe has the latest technology?
