Parked right next to the Lucas oil stabilizer is Fram's new oil additive. I picked up a bottle and shook it. It seems quite thin for an oil additive, much, much thinner than the Lucas additive, and even thinner than the Lucas synthetic oil additive. I'd go so far as to say that judging by bottle shaking only, it seems to be about the same thickness as a 20w50 oil. It's priced the same as the conventional Lucas additive. I wonder how well this stuff could possibly protect an engine.

Yeah, I saw that too but as I'm a satisfied customer with FP, LC and AutoRx, I just didn't have the urge to spend my hard-earned Canadian dimes on those snake oils.

STaying on with LC and regular AutoRx and am happy ever since...

Q.

You can perform an experiment with this new additive and report back your results?

The label has a warning on the back about it containing zinc-something or other. Maybe it's a ZDDP additive that could actually have merit in some engines.

Perhaps it's just a STP like additive? They do have a couple "additives" already in their oil filters. One of them is Slick 50, that's all the deterent I need.

Saw it at the local Advance Auto.
The best thing it has going for it is that it's not all thick like that STP additive that's like 9544143143413124314234123412 CST @ 100C.
I wouldn't use it unless I was trapped on a desert island with gas, a car with 15K on conventional oil in it and no motor oil.

Where are you gettin FP and AutoRx in canada other then ordering from the states? There a company that carries them in Canada?

BTW, if anyone DOES like the Lucas goop, BigLots sells a CD-2 version (100%brightstock) for $2.50. I bought a few bottles for giggles. Who knows when you may need 1000 weight oil in a pinch?

Just saw this at the local Canadian Tire.

I have to admit it was tempting to buy it but without an analysis, I will pass for now.

The bottle is just so pweeety.

I like the CD2 crap for chain lube on balers, haybines, etc.--it doesn't fly off like most.

I believe I will keep it out of my engines, however.
