SAE quick disconnects

I have a couple pieces of equipment that I use infrequently or seasonally only(tractors, snowblowers...). I have installed SAE quick disconnect wire leads on most of the batteries and it allows me to quickly plug in a battery charger or maintainer. I saw on Amazon that they have a SAE plug that would attach to the outside of the vehicle similar to an electric socket in your house. I would like to buy something that lasts, buy once, cry once. Does anyone have a recommendation for the best quality manufacturer or where to get these plugs. Thanks in advance!

Looks like aka 2-flat trailer connector. My Schumacher battery maintainer came with one. I'd probably just source a good trailer name like Curt. I see Hopkins offers them, but they can be hit or miss. As @doitmyself suggests, I imagine only a few factories make these. They're not high-draw so little reason to get too carried away. My biggest concern would be quality plastic and is it UV-stabilized. But how to tell? I dunno

Off-road guys were sourcing forklift connectors for winches, trailer power leads and custom jumper cables. Leave one half hard-wired to your battery poking out your grille and build everything else with the mating connector.....you're ready to connect cables or a trailer winch or anything else without ever popping the hood ;)

I've had zero issue with the SAE ones that come with BatteryMinder maintainers with the supplied rubber caps over the years.
A shot of DeOxit once and a while doesn't hurt either. And if a replacement would ever be needed they are a common item, even NAPA stocks them.

Agree. Same here. I have them, they have a small cap that covers the end too. Never an issue, and if there was, there are a million more out there.

As long as no more than 10-15A is needed, I’d be comfortable using it. I’ve seen ones fed with 10ga wire!

If I needed real power I’d look at the Andersen power pole. But given that a battery charge is not a practical continuous load at any real amount of current, the SAE works and is expedient.

I just let the pigtail stick out the grille. Nobody would know it was there if I didn’t say so.

i used an old 2 wire 120v extension cord i found in the top of my barrel of scrap wire. Almost got paid for it!

make sure it's polarized, or use an old 3 wire cord so you can't oopsie the polarities. Ask how i know.
