Hi all,
I'm pursuing options for aftermarket remote start install on the GLI...being push-to-start and a manual transmission it makes things tricky. They can't use the standard immobilizer module like they would be able to on the DSG cars, so I would have to give a key permanently to the module under the dash. As I debate whether or not the extra $350 that it would cost to get an additional key purchased and programmed is worth it, what would be stopping someone from being able to just break in and drive off assuming a key is remaining permanently in the car? Am I missing something with how the immobilizer works?
