I'm looking to have remote start installed on my car, I'm at a toss up between directed db3 which goes right through your factory key fob or viper 4115V the viper has a longer range quarter mile while the factory remote, would be 300 ft. Has anyone in this group gone with either one of these. Here's a picture of the viper 4115V.

From my understanding, the DB3 only works with properly equipped cars. If you have one of those, I would much rather have that than a standalone system.

Either one is a DEI product, so they should be solid.

To my understanding, my Ford factory remote will go 300 ft, I never measured it I would have to check tomorrow. And the viper would go a quarter of a mile. Which I really don't need.. basically as long as I'm able to start it from within my house..

They can advertise all they want, but I doubt it would reach much further than your factory remote. There are only certain frequencies they can use and only a limited power level they can transmit at. Add in the fog of the electronic interference we all live in and you'll end up with a hugely shorter range.

Recently Installed one from a company called 12 Volt Solutions out of Tulsa, OK. Very easy install, worth considering.

Just the writing on that website gives me the fly-by-night feeling.

"Dealerships, Fleet Companies, and even Online Forums.. we have the most attractive pricing programs available anywhere! It doesn't matter if you buy 10 kits a month, or 200 kits a month, we can save you some serious coin "

Your choice and I'm not a DEI shill, but they've been doing it forever and have a tech department that does actual research. Their dealers are usually decently well trained and at least can call the factory when and if something goes wrong.
