Are these products such as Rust Check and Krown an oil type product? Or are they and undercoating product?
I know what POR-15 is and I know what EXTEND is and have used them. Some of the products mentioned such as POR-15 are designed for restoration projects to keep rust at bay. And these resto projects will never see harsh environments. I have tried similar products on daily drivers with proper primer/paints and nothing stops rust, only slows it down a bit. Especially when driving in the salt laden winter here in the north.
I can't keep a daily driver much past 16-18 years with out the rest of the vehicle falling apart and replacing brake lines, P/S lines/hoses, transmission lines and fuel lines/tanks. Then after I have replaced all of those items, the strut towers rot out or the floor boards and rocker panels rust through or I get water in the trunk all from rot that I can't control. I've tried spraying rust control products everywhere I can in order to keep rust at bay. Maybe 18 years is good but the amount of winter salt used here in the northeast is unbeleivable!
Even thought the power train is still in decent shape with several hundred thousand miles on them, the rust puts the vehicle in it's grave.
