Rush going on tour

Anika is great drummer. c'ant wait to see what kind of drum setup she will have. been following her since the beginning. she even did a colab with another super talented female drummer from Canada , Emmanuelle Caplette.

Rush has already added more shows to the tour, really they added two additional shows at every venue already planned except Mexico City. The fan response just from what I have seen on the Rush Fan Club website alone has been phenomenal. There have been a few 'No Neil, No Rush" comments but nearly all of their fans are on board big time with this tour. This is going to be huge and I think it will get even bigger as time goes on.

The ticket prices go from $193 on the low end looking at a couple of venues. To $6,053 for I think an all-inclusive hotel stay $200 merch card and signed swag from the band. For 6 grand it better include a private guitar or bass guitar lesson, private concert dinner and drinks on the band and some of Geddy's wine.

I wish I had seen Rush back in the day! Where I’m staying right now (Niagara on the Lake) is actually just a 20 minute drive from where Neal Peart grew up, in Port Dalhousie Ontario. He was born in Hamilton Ontario, where both of my parents were born and raised (they didn’t know him but it’s possible that they crossed paths)
I saw them perform live two nights in a row in the late 70s in a Warehouse concert venue in hot New Orleans, La.

I saw Nazareth in Saskatoon with Rush playing backup. A year later I saw them again, this time with Nazareth backing up Rush.

They used to play local Toronto high schools in their early days. That would’ve been cool to have seen that! The only band that ever played my school was a semi famous local band called The Spoons. I didn’t like their music so I didn’t bother going.

I read a lot of posts today on the Rush Fan Club page, people were complaining about the ticket prices. Prices are all over the scale, none are consistent, some people already bought tickets at $300.00 each, some paid upwards of $2,000.00 each. Some people tried to blame Alex and Geddy, but many fans put the blame on the promoters, Ticket Master and who ever else sells concert tickets nowadays. I even read one conspiracy theory type post where someone said Geddy and Alex are in on the high prices, trying to judge how many people will pay the higher prices so they can gauge ticket sales and profits on a possible subsequent longer tour. I highly doubt that is anywhere even remotely close to the truth. Geddy and Alex do not need the money. They both have said they miss playing live and decided to go back out on the road to bring part of the Rush catalogue back to the fans again. They also have to pay for fuel, trucks, buses, hotels, insurance, security, merchandisers, the crew, staff and any guest players on stage, including Anika. Touring is much more expensive now than it used to be.

I have been a huge fan of Rush ever since the first time I heard 2112 back in 1976. I have only seen one Rush concert, in 1987 on the Hold Your Fire tour at the Omni in Atlanta. I think my ticket that night cost $10.00 or maybe $12.00. As much of a Rush fan as I am, I will not go to this concert. My hearing is too badly damaged now for me to enjoy a live concert. The only way I will see this one is if they stream one of the dates or put out a DVD. The tour has no dates in Florida or Georgia anyway, at least for now. What I would like to see is video of Anika rehearsing with Alex and Geddy, and hear how she picks up and interprets the songs and assimilates that into her own playing style.

I love the music of Rush, but I wouldn’t pay $6K for them to play in my backyard 🤣🤣
I saw an interview with Nirvana in 91ish or so and they said their tickets were around $17 and each of them were getting $3.50 from that. The guy told Nirvana that Madonna tickets were $75. The look on Kurt Cobains face was pure gold. He couldn't believe how much she was charging. Unless I was Bill Gates and literally didn't know what to spend my money on $6 grand is alot of moolah for one concert ticket.

I just looked at tickets for Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. $300 for bad seats / $1000 for decent seats. At Dickies Arena!

No thanks.

They should do like Robert Smith (The Cure) and join the fight against outrageous pricing. Robert Smith states that artists should demand/force reasonable pricing because fans will enjoy the show without breaking the bank, buy more beer, and buy more merchandise. It would be a better experience for the fan, and they'll want to come back next time. (Although there may not be a next time for Geddy and Alex)

While not a Taylor Swift fan, her fans could get a round-trip ticket to Europe, a room for 2-3 nights, AND see the concert for the same or less than a US show! (Given they had the time to do it all) Still, that says a lot!

I guess things are very different now. $1,000.00 is way too much for a concert ticket, no matter if it is a good seat or in the nosebleeds. I hope they live stream one of the shows on Netflix or Youtube. I am sure there will be plenty of fans posting cell phone video but those are usually very bad quality. Even with the high ticket prices, the band has added 18 more dates to the tour. Maybe they did that to help fans who missed out on Ticketmaster get a seat.

I'll be curious to see how Geddy's voice holds up. It wasn't good 10 years ago. That's a range that's hard to reach at his age.
Also, Alex's struggles with arthritis are something that he has talked about for a long time now.

I hope they bring on a guest singer to handle lead vocals and maybe let Geddy sing backup vocals if he wants to. He sounded really bad on the R40 tour. I read an interview with Alex not long ago where he talked about going over to Geddy's house to jam on old Rush songs and they both laughed about it and said they sounded like the worst Rush tribute band ever. They still have a lot of time to get ready for the tour, but I also wondered about Alex's arthritis. He has been busy though with other projects like Envy of None so maybe he has been treated for the arthritis. Maybe he is in less pain now, I don't know. I do know I tried to listen to both Envy of None albums and that is some of the weirdest music I have ever heard.

Even when he was younger I have no idea how he had the range he had.

You Rush fans think you're cool, but are you I-still-have-my-ticket-stub-from-40-years-ago cool?

People complaining about ticket prices, look at that mean $15 I shelled out in 1986. According to google, that's about $45 in today's dollars.

I really want to see a show on this tour, but paying $1000 or more for a decent seat is going to put me in divorce court. On the other hand, that sounds like a fair trade. I'll have to think about this.
