Running boards on my GMC 1500

Not sure where I should post this, but I'm having a minor problem. The center bracket on my driver side running board broke and is only being held on by one bolt. It has two bolts that attach to the underside and one rusted out. The running board rattles around as I drive and drives me absolutely bonkers. It's very annoying to say the least. Would it hurt anything if I completey detached the center bracket? It would still be held on at each end. Or, I though about wedging something soft in there to stop the rattling. Any ideas?

Pending how big the gap is, you could just use a caulk gun. squirt a little in the crack, let it set. That should do it.

You should weld a new bracket on it for perm fix. The other fixes are just rigs and 1/2 a$$.
