My 2012 F150, Ive noticed some of the underside bed rails have a good amount of surface rust, no through rust but it looks as though Ford didnt coat it good from the factory. My job hotshotting supplies takes me through alot of muddy limestone parking lots, saltwater etc and I hose off my truck regularly but would still like to prevent this rust from getting worse. Would Cosmoline RP 342 or Fluid Film be better for this?

Fluid film seams to wash off quicker than most other stuff so of your choices I would go for the RP. But I did use surface shield last fall and I found that stayed on very well even though I used a car wash to remove ice multiple time per week

I just did my Silverado with Blaster. I am going to monitor it for comparison to the Fluid film I have used before. The Blaster flowed just as easy as the FF, other than a slightly weaker smell they are hard to distinguish during application.

I used Fluid Film on my 2008 Jeep and that frame and underbody looked factory new after 17 years of road salted winters and lots of off-roading. It gets the job done. I´d go with whatever is cheaper.

Is surface shield the one made by PB Blaster? That one looks like a really good one.

yes

I used the Noxudol twins on my new Honda past fall. Hard to tell much after one winter, but the cavity wax has really impressive creep. From inside the tailgate it crept down the weld seams (thru the drain holes) and then 4-6" up the outside surface.

Been using annual fluid film on my 2011 since it was about 2-3 years old. Other than some edges like the rear wheel lips needing occasion paint touch ups it’s virtually rust free. And that’s after over a decade of daily driving in the salt belt. Just replaced some brake lines for the first time about last year and they unthreaded like it was still brand new.

Messy, though. Using RP342 on the 2018. So far it seems to be very good but not great. But much less messy when wrenching.

If you have surface rust, you want something that will creep and seep in first. That may be oil, may be a liquid rust protection like known, nh, etc., or else a lanolin product that flows and creeps a bit.

After that, secondary coverage might be something more resilient.
