Royal Purple is great for small engines only because the oil can be seen on the dipstick. My failing eyes struggle to see regular colored oil on a small engine dipstick!
I don't follow the guy, however I watch his videos once in a while if they're posted here. Over the years I have shaken and used oil sometimes over 5 years old and never saw fallout like he had, and the oil color appeared to be normal. Having said that I store oil in my basement which never sees freezing cold, or extreme heat. I think some people tend to over think things here. Blacksstone's testing showed oil well over 10 years old to be good, however its specs we long outdated making it something I wouldn't use in one of my vehicles.
If it was unopened - no worries. Shake it up and use it.
Today I did an oil change on 4 vehicles, using unopened motor oil from 2011-2014. Have done so many times in the past too, with no ill effects to report.
