Have a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible with a 2.5. I used Mobil 1 10-30 HM in it and it developed a bad valve lash adjuster tick in multiple adjusters. I thought maybe the M1 loosened up some crud and plugged some up. I tried a syn oil run and then a run with Castrol GTX and MMO and it was as bad or worse.

I just did a change with Rotella T6 5-40 and after 500 miles the ticking is very hit and miss now.

I don't know if this is because this oil is a little heavier or because of the high detergent or maybe the high Zddp.

What do you think?

yeah. Even the lifters that are leaking down faster than the others are now at full attention ...so to speak

This stuff is awesome. I just put in some T6 5w40 Rotella too and it stopped my car's smoking turbo problem. It didn't smoke bad, but a little bit after idling (a known issue for a lot of the speed 3's) and this oil fixed it.

2 Syn oil changes prior then:

105,923 M1 HM 10-30
110,069 5 minute flush, QS Ultimate Durability 5-30 and Qt Rislone
111,442 Castrol GTX 5-20 and Qt of MMO
114,400 Rotella T6 5-40 and no additives

**I know the Castrol was too thin and then way too thin with the MMO but i thought it might help cleaning and it was winter.

Maybe thinning was the problem, someone in here ran 5 qts of 15w40,plus half qt of lucas oil stabilizer and half qt of mmo, and he said his car did well on it, I think it was a 60 era Pontiac , v-8. I may try that on my old 318 someday, its got 215k on it now, 2002 dodge.

I don't believe that Mobil 1 10w30 High Mileage is anywhere near as good as many here believe. It did not do well in the two cars I used it in.

That 5 minute flush with Rislone was a waste. Rislone is meant to be used as a full OCI additive.

Glad the Rotella worked. I have found that a good HDEO even without something like Rislone or MMO can help eventually.

x2 on that?

i have used gallons of this oil and it cleans works very well,no issues,it's a well built robust oil with a hths of 3.66 and SL additive package!,the 10/40 is even more robust yet!

if you had problems it wasn't the oil.

Despite the "-54C pour point" it performed very poorly in my cars when the temps started to drop. When it got around freezing, my moms car sounded like it was filled with 25W-70 or something, it was very harsh. There was a lot of vibration and noise from the engine. My car didn't suffer that problem, but my fuel economy absolutely tanked when the engine was cold. When I changed over to Quaker State Horse Power 5W-20 I gained 4mpg instantly. Went from 22 to 26.

By contrast, the John Deere 0W-40 CH-4 full synthetic (Made by Chevron, PAO based, tons of detergents and AW/EP adds) I have in my car right now has given me no fuel economy penalty that I can see. In fact, I believe I am getting slightly better MPG than I was on the 5W-20.

I think the problem with using it in my moms car is that the tiny oil filter and high volume pump just can't move it as quickly as other oils. The Valvoline Synpower 5w30 that was in it during the previous winter, which was far colder, had almost none of the NVH that we experienced with the M1 10w30 HM.
