Rotella T6 10-30

I was being cautious about " a placebo" and me noticing my 2022 H.O runs better on the T6 10w-30. I posted something on another forum about my truck driving better on the t6 10-30 and was eaten alive that no way I would notice a oil brand and or weight on a 1,000 ft lb monster diesel engine!
I tell you, this engine likes the T6 10-30 in a way I have never noticed ANY truck / car engine running better on a oil.
less top end noise, feels smoother, to the extent, I have had several people notice that ride with me or simply walk past and can't believe its a diesel!
To me its like when you changed that muffler on that old 92 Buick or purchased (4) new Michelins for that same old car..
You slightly hear less noise and it just "feels" better...
Hard to explain but you die hard 5w-40 guys owe it to yourself to try the t6 10-30. Do it and tell me what you hear and feel...
Unless you’re up in northern Canada or Alaska you really don’t need 5w40

Well the Rotella T6 10W-30 is available on the shelf at my local Walmart. $23.52 online and $26.32 in the store. If it’s bought online it can be picked up at the store for the $23.52. Still never heard anything back from Shell. It also has the Ford F1 spec listed on the back of the jug.

Noticed this too. I’ll stick with T4 10w30 I can get at Rural King for $14~ gallon all day.

That is if I didn’t have over 20 gallons of T5 10w30 thanks to Wal Mart clearancing it 🙊🙊🙊

I have a 22 Ram 2500 and being that I visit here on BITOG I am continuously looking for a better oil for my truck. I’ve been looking at the R T6 10-30 and the specs that they (Shell) have posted on their website is the same exact specs as R T6 15-40. Does anyone have any insight as to what the real specs are for the 10-30 ? TIA
I have always ran Rotella T6 15/40 fully sync. Cummins ISL 9- 450 hp. gotta love shell for their oils, just not their gas prices.😉😂

What specification does your owner's manual give? One of the Cummins ones highlighted in that picture above?

If so, then that specification gives a minimum HT/HS of 3.5, so either a 30-grade or a 40-grade can have that HT/HS. I don't see any limitation on the winter rating, so aren't there any 5W-40 oils that carry the proper Cummins specification?

I wouldn't concern myself with viscosity when the HT/HS is far more accurate, and is controlled by the Cummins spec.
A lot of the 30 weight HDEO I've seen (castrol / motul etc for instance) have HTHS of around 3.5-3.52

You get a lot of xW40 ones that have around 3.7

I had a 2022 6.7 cummins

If I can’t run 15w40 in a diesel engine I don’t want it.. I was super bummed when I found out I couldn’t run 15w40 in mine

I hear you. I have been running 5-40 in my 22’ and it seems to be doing good. I’m going to do my first UOA at the next OC which will be at 18K miles. Anxious to see what it looks like and how it’s doing.

I’ve used Blackstone labs for oil analysis a few times while trying out different oil brands. I’m still waiting on results for Amsoil I just used on my 2017 Ram. Schaefer’s 15W-40 Durability Advantage is the clear winner so far. I’ve used Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5W-40 also. I go 15K miles on all my oil changes. Each test they say I can go longer on all brands I’ve tried, it’s just the Schaefer’s has the least by far of metal particles

Here is the Rotella MV 5W-30 Viscosity 75 @ 40c / 12.1 @ 100c. (Dated 7/26/24) A nice thick 30 weight . However like others, I can't find the PDS for Rotella T6 10W30

Really. Where are you seeing these metal particles?
