For sludge protection in a known sludger, any major difference between these two? I like the Rotella T Syn because it's $3.82/qt at Wal-Mart vs. $5/qt +/- for the T&SUV. I'm thinking Rotella is a better bargain since it offers similar protection at a lower price. (I am aware that Rotella is a Group III and T&SUV is a Group4/5)

I have seen it posted on this board previously. Moreover, also it was stated in an article that Delvac 1 is 25% ester.

I cannot find T&S anywhere! Has M1 really stopped making it? I went to 2 different Wally Worlds and a performance shop and both don't have it. Shell Rotella Synthetic 5w-40 is the next oil for my Audi! I have heard alot of good things about it here and with my 1.8T engine, I think it would be the best bang for the buck!

thunderchild, T&S will be back shortly. Katrina interupted the supply train, so to speak. Posts by others indicate is should be back to normal after Feb. 1, with a different name, Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel, or something to that effect.

As a side note, I have noticed that T&S has given my Duramax diesel about 5 more PSI of oil pressure at idle and up over Rotella T Syn.

I'm using RTS in my 2.5L turbo caravan. The engine seems to run smoother and quieter, almost no lifter tick or piston slap on startup. When I first tried it I replaced GTX 20/50. Started much quicker. After a few weeks, I noticed that the turbo was spooling much quicker. It really was noticable. Changed out at 4800 miles and put in ST 15w40 and the first ARX. Followed by another ST 15w40 for the rinse. The engine was not happy with the ST. After 3000 mile rinse, put RTS back in. Runs much better now and the turbo spools instantly. Also compression is up on all cylinders. Will probably do another ARX when this fill hits 5000 miles.
I do have 12 qts. M1 5w40. Don't know when I'll try it.

RTS is a truly fantastic product. Many of my Porsche 911 buddies use it with fantastic results. Same base stock Ferrari uses for their F1 engines and, same base stock Ferrari puts in their new cars. Buy it, use it, love it.

I've been using the Rotella T synthetic in my wifes 02 Maxima since it was new. 158,000 miles later and it is sparkling clean where I can see into the valve cover. Never any problems. Bought 24 gallons on clearance at a wal mart in Illinois while on a trip...can't remember exactly what I paid, but it was more than $8.00, but less than $9.00 for the gallon! It is no longer on the shelves here in Iowa.
I use the Mobil 1 EP in my Toyota Tundra because I love it and don't put a lot of miles on it. The Rotella was always pretty cheap for a synthetic, and you can see the wifes car racks miles, and oil changes, very quickly.

5000 mile OCI on every vehicle. I would not hesitate to reccomend the Rotella to anyone.
