"Rolling Coal"

I don't like when people do it excessively or cover a car or random person with the smoke, but if someone is being a total d-bag and you pass I see nothing wrong with a splash of smoke on them.

My Beetle is a diesel and I occasionally do it, I think it's hilarious in such a small gas sipper car although it isn't a huge cloud that you can't see through. Sometimes I do it not on purpose like when I'm merging in traffic but I do sometimes blow smoke on a tailgater who is a few feet behind my bumper.

Well there are some people who are making the (illegal) modifications and doing this for recreation.

You did nothing more than lower yourself to their standards. They wanted a reaction and you gave them exactly what they wanted. You've proved that you are just as immature as they are.

If driving a VW Beetle and offering up an occasional puff of smoke makes you feel warm and fuzzy, by all means keep doing it. The rest of us real adults will just continue shake their heads at your immature behavior.

And by the way-if your Beetle really is a diesel then it is most certainly not a gas sipper.

Pop,

Your act is more than a bit old. What I did wasn't in any way/shape/form as 'immature' as driving like a dbag on a heavily traveled route in a major metro area.

Keep on thinking you're special, though.

I agree with Pop Rivit. I actually agree with almost all of his posts. Well said!

Bros driving their brodozers and listening to bro country. It's a whole culture, apparently

I am getting too old; I agree with Pop.

What *exactly* were you planning to achieve by giving 1-finger salute? You must have some rationale for doing that. Why not tell us?

I really don't think it is Pop that thinks he's special.

The same amount of stress releif as yelling at the steering wheel or windshield? The communication of "yes I see you, and I think you're a moron too"?

I agree, two wrong's don't make a right: but there is a difference between flippin' the bird and intentionally cutting in front of someone so one can do a brake check. Yes, it can escalate a situation, so it's best avoided. But people are responsible for their own actions. Being flipped off is not an excuse to go 'roid rage.

[I realize they didn't do a brake check in this case. I've had this happen a couple times, and not from when I've flipped people the bird.]

Actually, to piggy-back on this: if flipping someone the bird is completely wrong, is high-beaming someone wrong too? Let's say someone cuts in too close in front of you. Obviously speeding up to tailgate would be wrong, I think we can all agree to that. But is "hey, like, I exist on this road also" an ok gesture?

Flashing your high beams to say "I exist on this road also" and "F**K YOU" via middle finger aren't the same. I avoid both as antagonizing. I have much more to lose than the average fool on the road, and don't want to give any of these fools any reason to do anything besides continue on their stupid way.

To those that drive like maroons, I simply point and laugh at them...letting them know visually that they are a joke. Absolutely nothing takes the wind out of a poseurs sales than to have someone laugh "at" them.

When people offer the middle finger more stupidity ensues.

Let folks pass on by and suck it up or take a deep breath. At least it was smoke and not a nut job who tried to drive you off the road or worst pull a gun. People are unstable, as tempting as it is don't make eye contact and let them go on.

Obviously you fell into their trap.

At the state fair, I ran into a bunch of these guys "muddin" in the state fair parking lot before they went to some sort of pop country concert.

I didn't even give in to them when I was there with my muddy jeep. Everyone had to drive through the bad section - I just idle through in the Jeep.

I was not equating two actions.

A local biker got rolled, twice, and calmly walked up to the truck stopped at a light and shot both right side tires out. No fingers, no shouting, no words spoken. I'd think twice before rolling a motorcycle, but then again I try to be considerate.

YMMV

I knew a few people that would drag said driver out by his head and beat the living s..t out of him. Or shoot more than a few tires. It's a sick world and pulling stupid stunts don't always end nicely.
