One thing I've wondered about RA is whether they maintain any of their own inventory or warehouses at all, or just function as a kind of online marketplace that processes orders for drop shipping.
Everything I've ever ordered from them has come from a different source. Look up the shipper origin on Maps, and it could be a large wholesaler-type warehouse, or could just as easily be a neighborhood parts store.
When RA never even see, or handle the parts, or do the shipping, it can be hard to control what the results are.
I'm curious as to how their business model actually works.
But if you want a consistently lousy experience, order parts through Pepboys.com. Pickup emails never come, or come late, the store personnel often have to rummage through whatever the truck drops off to see if your order has even arrived, and what you get may have been sitting on a dusty shelf for who knows how long? I just received, and return a pair of lift supports that were covered in dust, one was leaking oil, and the manufacture dates were from eight years ago. Lesson learned. Those 30% off codes do make it too tempting sometimes; just have to be selective on what you order.
For mission critical parts, I still rely on an import parts wholesaler who supplies a lot of the online storefronts for certain Euro marques. I just choose my preferred storefront, and stuff appears two days later, from another part of the state.
Parts are always fresh, and good quality.
Bonus--those lift supports I returned to PB were hencho en Mexico. The replacements, hecho en Alemania.
