So, purchased some wipe blades off Rockauto back at the end of August. They arrived, properly packed and without drama. Installed one set of the truck, they are great. Well, the Mustang had a little life left in the existing wipe blades so I waiting until last week to install. I opened the original packaging with correct part numbers only to find one blade was obviously incorrectly packaged as it featured a true beam style construction as well as a top push button lock instead of the hook style on my vehicle.

First I emailed customer support who replied timely and moderately politely to the gist of "too bad." I sent a reply to them re-describing the situation and asking if they really want to take a customer to town over $2... No reply. So today I phoned them. The person on the phone was professional but not what I would call particularly courteous or polite. After listening to my saga he replied that that is their policy and there is nothing he could do. I questioned if it was worth losing a customer over a $2 part to which he bid me good day and farewell...

I guess I won't be buying from Rockauto any more, if they are willing to so much as say they value your return business less than $2 I will take advantage of their online part number look up but will not buy from them again!

Were they a clearance item? Those usually have a 30 day warranty so if you don't use them in 30 days, the warranty is no good. That's just the risk you take.

Getting butt hurt over a $2 part that you waited 90 days to install is a little over the top, too.

If I were in your shoes, I would still buy from Rock Auto, anytime it would save me money. But.....I am a cheap $%#^&, so there is that.

They do this because they know you'll be back. Just like everybody swears off Wal-Mart still shops there.

RockAuto was sloppy enough to send my last package with postage due (yes, they mailed it).

After asking for them to credit this amount due to my credit card (with documentation), they instead sent me store credit.

I don't think that the Post Office wants a store credit at Rock Auto.

Rockauto is the Harbor Freight of auto parts, without the customer service.

Not impressed at all in my dealings with them- mainly the amount of cheap China-made parts masquerading as premium parts.

Not this one. And its not the $2 its the cavalier attitude they take. Sure, maybe one day I'll buy something from them, but it would require SIGNIFICANT cost savings on a quality part.

I don't shop at wal-mart. Never say never, but its VERY rare.

I took advantage of the clearance wipers and they were great. One set was old NAPA and the others were tricos. Just in time for the winter!

You're a customer that buys $2 parts.

You're worth losing.

You're not worth the time of an employee because the margin on your parts purchase is pennies....

Once you add shipping in, I rarely find buying from Rockauto worth it. Amazon usually beats them, and would have sent you a new blade without even asking.

That's true. The Rock better wise up.

You are arguing about $2 on a part they delivered to you 90 days ago.

Not Rockauto's issue that you didn't inspect your delivery when you accepted it in a timely fashion.

Next time, inspect your parts when they are delivered (meaning don't just look at the packaging) and all this drama would be avoided.

Move on...

When you shop clearance stuff mail order, you are rolling the dice.

For perspective, I just paid $8 each for some cheap blades at Advanced Auto. The AA guy put them on in the rain.

So every now and then something doesn't work out with Rock Auto.

Big deal.

I like rockauto but sometimes the shipping kills it. I have never had to deal with them though. I do love amazons customer support. I bought a Samsung ssd from them and three months later I noticed the price had gone down. I contacted them and they gave me the difference back. Super easy. I also haggled on the price of my welder I bought from them a while back.
