I’m looking at getting a few parts but one of them kind of struck me. SKP Water Pump for like $20. Are SKP parts worth dealing with?

My vehicle is an 02 Chevy Trailblazer LS.

Stick with the name brand parts (ACDelco, Mopar, Motorcraft, Standard Motor Products, Gates, Bando, Timken, SKF, Fel-Pro, Delphi, etc.) and you should be fine. As kebabakuba stated, if they are way cheap, they are likely not worth using.

If this is something you want to keep for more years go with ACDelco OE, if its only for a shorter time then get one from BECK/ARNLEY.

For what it’s worth I installed this AC Delco Professional Ford Taurus water pump 18 months ago and it is gong strong even after using Permatex Ultra Gray.

How good is the Gates brand?
Yay for belts, hard pass for water pumps.

oddly enough, I have a Gates pump on a friend’s Explorer. Chineseium but it’s going strong for the last 4 years. I’ll throw a Korean GMB on it, if I can’t find a decent price for Motorcraft.

SKP actually isn't too bad.

I've installed probably 30+ Gates pumps in GM 3.6 motors and like them because the give you the new bolts as required for the repair. I plain don't use AC DELCO Advantage parts - all offshore junk. Why pay extra for the Delco name?

For the most part it's the same junk most parts stores like AAP, PB, and AZ sell, usually cheaper if you have the time to wait. Just watch their shipping, because if parts are coming from different locations that can drive the cost of the shipping up. You can tell on their website if that is happening. And always search for their discount code, it will save you 5%.

I never buy there economy stuff.
I stick with daily driver or premium/heavy duty stuff
I always throw in a oil filter or 2 if I can as long as its comming from the same warehouse. Oil filrers there good price

The question is not RockAuto but rather some of the brands I have never heard of. Since I am not in the auto repair business I am sure there are many brands of parts I have never heard of. But I would (myself) try and avoid buying any parts in the "budget" section unless its to fix a car you are selling or trading in.
