When folks say RLI Bio-Syn greatly reduces engine wear, but you risk reducing "catalytic life," do they mean you might have to buy a new catalytic converter and muffler after some number of years?

If so, how much would that cost for a 2006 Camry LE? From what I have read, the high amount of zinc and phosphorous helps protect against engine wear but may take a toll on "catalytic life."

Oils with very low volatility, such as RLI and Redline, you don't need to worry about that too much. If your car was drinking a qt of oil ever 2k miles or so, Id be concerned otherwise it's not really something to be concerned with.

Who says you reduce "catalytic life" with RLI Bio-Syn? It's certainly not something that I would concern myself with.

Terry has said before that he liked Pennzoil Platinum but remember that formulations are constantly changing so what he may have liked a year ago may not be true anymore.
I believe they have an Outlander & he used SP-III fluid in the tranny if I'm not mistaken. I assume that you meant engine oil though.

Why pay the price for RLI Bio-Syn for an engine that would likely go 200k with conventional oil?

RLI has been shown to reduce wear in engines that seem to have significant wear problems. If your UOA shows 2 ppm iron is it worth doubling the cost of the oil to reduce it to 1 ppm assuming that it could drop wear by 50%?

A few people did after the VOA was posted (VOA forum and the "Super Secret" sticky in the UOA forum).

I had the same question but I haven't really seen a direct answer.
