Hi all,

I just completed a run with RLI 5w20 and it was awesome. I had 0 wear metals for Aluminum (All aluminum engine) and 0 for Chromium (Piston Rings). I had extremely low Iron and virtually nothing else or like 1ppm in other categories.

The add-pack was barely touched and the oil could have gone 15,000km's if not more (9K miles) before the next sampling except I have a fuel dilution problem going on that is polluting the oil so I had to drain it out.

I will post in the used oil analysis section once I get my Debian Web-server up and running. (Haven't had time...)

The numbers are so superb I'm thinking about taking back my Pennzoil Ultra for a refund next time I'm in Buffalo and just sticking with the RLI 5w20. Also the RLI from my Canadian Supplier which has to pay duty on the stuff is only $30 for 4 Gallons which is awesome for this great product.

Anyways, I thought I would share and I would be happy to share the numbers with you all once I get my server up/running and can host the report on there.

I know lots of people aren't fans of RLI but it's performing exceptionally well in this case and I'm gonna stick to it.

As for the fuel dilution problem see my other thread for that topic.
 
2006 Hyundai Santa Fe - 2.7L V6 - over 320K KM's (192K miles). Mostly highway but some city now/again. (95%/5%) I drive 8-10 hours a day with multiple restarts as I use my truck as my office and work on the road. Minimal idling.

Always used synthetics, always well maintained...
 
$30 for 4 gallons??....or 4 quarts? Here in the states
their shipping costs add at least 50% to the cost of
their products.

Yes it does...

Iron registered 4ppm, keep in mind I have fuel dilution going on and my last UOA of 5w30 RLI many moons ago showed 2ppm.
 
I knew you weren't gonna use conventional oil.

So if the used oil analysis shows low metals what do you care about the excess fuel? (since we don't know the number)

Its not harming anything and you certainly can go longer with the oil.

If the fuel was harming the engine the numbers and visc would be out of range.

I'd leave things alone. We know the vehicle lasts a long time with normal oils so why mess with it?

The sample was only 5K KM's (3K Miles) and it has almost 2% fuel in it. Sure it didn't harm anything at this point but those numbers could grow/decrease exponentially accordingly.

I'm not going to extend my OCI until I get the fuel dilution back to the area where it was in my average trend from previous used oil analysis.

Bill I would have thought you would have been smarter than that.

So next time post ALL the numbers before starting a thread. Then we can be "smarter".

Never thought about typing the numbers out in the interim because I don't have webspace to host it at the moment...

The comparison of RLI to Redline was that RLI did way better in my engine compared to Redline.

Redline is an excellent oil but RLI is much cheaper and it's made from a renewable resource (Canola Oil) and did a great job!

TAN - 2.98 (Starts at 1) - Jumps quickly to this and then holds here for a long time. Just the chemical makeup of oil

OXID - 161 (No EGR Valve and Fuel Dilution lead to this)
NITRATION - 12 (Same reasons as Oxidation)
KF - 553
TBN - 3.8 (Starts at 6)
FUEL 1.2% (Normal 0.26)

Does that hold true for the US prices too?
 
-copper in some formulations is used as an additive
-oxidation is high in ester based synthetic oils
