`Rislone compatibility with Syntec

Their was a VOA of MMO a while back. It disappeared. It was a 20wt at that time and I am sure off it. I also remember posting the VOA link several times, but a looksy at my 2870 posts turned up nothing. If you don't believe it, send a sample out for another VOA. I'll just assume that it was lost during a website crash and not recovered.

20wt motor oil, per SAE J300, is 5.6-9.3 cst @100*F. Brake fluid, for comparison, is usually 1.5-2.5 CST @ 100*F.

Anyway, like I said, just keep in mind the dilution of the addy pack.

Yes, you can get ahold of straight SAE 10 weight motor oil.
The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Rotella T 10W.
Rotella.com has stats.
CST @ 100C = 6.5
Flash Point is 405 F.
Pour point is -22 F. (Remember, pour point isn't what matters, CRANKING viscosity is what matters.)
TBN is at least 6.0 and it's 0.90% sulfated ash by weight.

Oh, and I'd consider Rislone a waste of money.
Marvel Mystery oil is a worthwhile chemical, but it has no place in a running engine. Not a bad choice for cleaning an engine during a teardown, but I'm not certain it's the best choice either... I haven't done an overhaul in 15 years now.

Right, Quakerstate has that new racing oil in 0W5 but I thought that was more a marketing gimmick...

I didn't realize there were real recognized grades that low...

Good to know!

I'm sorta confused. You used to use 5-50, but switched to 15-50...but you want to 'thin-out' the 5-50?

If you wanted thinner, why switch to a 'thicker' 15-50?

Use LC....this is what I use with Syntec 5-50. Works great and will clean things out. Rislone does some weird stuff to oil IMO...
