RIP Gil De Ferran

Always seemed like a genuinely nice, and classy guy, and that has been borne out by the response to the news of his passing.

Those CART cars were awesome as well. The current IndyCars make for good racing, but are old enough to qualify for vintage events.

And IndyCar management shows little interest in trying to market and grow the sport, which is not good when others like F1 are aggressively pursing new audiences.

Hopefully, Honda's threat to quit will wake them up.

Yeah. Those "way too early" deaths happen and are sobering.
I know someone who is an experienced road racer and general thrill seeker. Whether it was the G forces or the stress, he ended up having heart related chest pains when racing on the Daytona road course, and having to stop racing altogether. No heart attack (yet) but clearly it was causing him discomfort, and drug treatment only worked for a while.
